At the end of the
show the cars were put into storage and more or less forgotten about.
However, the Princess is now on display at the World of Top Gear exhibition
at the Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire.
It has to be said
that this Princess was in need of some cosmetic repair before Top Gear took
ownership, and it’s fair to say it wasn’t a pristine example despite its low
20k miles. There are blemishes all over the bodywork and in some places the
paint had worn down to the primer. Micro blistering on the bonnet is also
apparent. It just goes to show the camera can lie!
It has dried out
inside, but mould is growing on the carpet, and quite a lot of modification
was required to enable filming. Still, at least this Wedge is now in a museum,
which makes it the only one apart from the Wolseley Wedge at the Heritage
Motor Centre at Gaydon. This page added 2nd August 2009. |
