         Wedge in Ireland

Here are some pictures of my 1979 Princess 2000 HLS, which I bought in London in early February.

After acquiring the car, I drove it to my sister’s house in Nottingham, where I stored it for a few weeks. Returning in late February I then drove it to Holyhead, where it boarded a HSS ferry to Dublin, Ireland - its new home!

Since its arrival in Ireland, I've replaced the thermostat (previous one was sticking) and given the Princess 4 new tyres. Other than that, the car is motoring brilliantly and I had it at a few rallies during the 'summer'- or the excuse for a summer that we had!

It received plenty of admiration wherever I took it and as far as I can work out, it is the only Princess in Ireland!

The Princess now goes into storage (my parents' garage) for the winter months, although I may occasionally take it out when the weather is good.

I look forward to communicating with other Princess owners.

This is my Leyland Princess Special Six.

It's a 1978 2200 Automatic with only 61,500 miles on it.

It was originally owned by an elderly man in Ipswich.

When he became ill the car was put in storage for over 7 years hence the low mileage. I bought it from a Surrey based fellow Wedge enthusiast in November 2009 and drove it back up north to Holyhead, Wales and took it home to Dublin on the ferry.

The car is completely original apart from 2 small patches welded in on the rear wheel arches.

The only spot of bother it's given was a split fuel hose the day I bought it! However, since then, I've given it a full service and ever since it has performed brilliantly.

I recently put chrome wheel trims on it plus had the nearside front wing repaired and resprayed as it had a large nasty dent in it.

It gets used about once a week when the weather is dry and I look forward to returning with it to the UK in August 2010 for the annual BMC/BL Day in Peterborough.
